Renewal is going on!
During this pandemic year, most Melburnians were restricted to travelling within 5km of home and then only for food, medical or exercise reasons. So it was a great pleasure to be able to travel the 2000 km to the Sunshine Coast of Queensland once Victoria finally got a handle on the Covid challenge. As of writing Victoria has had over 50 days of zero cases of community transmission of Covid!
It was obviously great to catch up with new family additions! But on the second last day news of a New South Wales outbreak of Covid including one person who had recently travelled to the Sunshine Coast brought this vacation to a premature conclusion.
A return road trip over the next 2 days across the NSW hinterland (lead picture included), travelling through one of the previously fire ravaged areas made me pause to wonder at the natural renewal that takes place after times of disaster. Here are a few pictures that hopefully provide a sense of optimism for those of you currently still under the grey cloud of the pandemic.
Above, while some trees seem to have passed unscathed, or have shed the damage and look fresh, others even while struggling are nevertheless beginning to recover and the floor of the forest is just busting out!
And below, some trees have responded in their own way with a massive coating of new growth!

After a long year of enforced isolations it is great to see so many of our hiking friends returning to the trails.
